Q&A: Hypoallergenic pets?

Question by Sci Fi Insomniac: Hypoallergenic pets?
So I already asked this question in “dogs”…
I’m moving in with my allergic boyfriend soon, and I want to have a pet (we’ll be living far away from my home and my other pets). Any suggestions on breeds? Maybe some I could find at an animal shelter?
Thanks everybody!

a poodle mix like a goldendoodle
They have hair not fur. Fur sheds and makes dander what most people are alergic to.
Golden doodles are very freindly.

I think a reptile would be the safest thing to do. Can’t really cuddle but at least your mom will be okay

The Advantages of Giving Hypoallergenic Dog Food to Your Pup

The Advantages of Giving Hypoallergenic Dog Food to Your Pup

Our dog gives us unconditional loyalty and love, and as a return, we as their master should also give something that our dog will surely cherish. It is natural to play and spend time with your pet. This is what they commonly call as your bonding time with your pup. But do you know that you can still do more to make your dog happy? Yes, you have just read it right! Your dog will definitely be more thankful when you give them hypoallergenic dog food. This can probably be the best give you can ever give to your dog in exchange of their undying loyalty to you.

What is hypoallergenic dog food?

When you talk about hypoallergenic dog food, this is simply the type of dog food that has lesser tendency to cause any allergies to the body of your dog. Giving hypoallergenic dog food is really important because we may not know it but our dogs are vulnerable and prone to allergies which are caused by the food they eat.

]]>

What are the symptoms of dog allergies?

If you notice that your dog vomits unusually, experiences diarrhea, suffering from any skin problems or skin allergies, itching and scratching- these only show that it might be time to switch the usual dog food that you give to hypoallergenic dog food.

Where can you find dog foods that are hypoallergenic?

You can find hypoallergenic dog food available in many stores or in pet stores and some are also found in big grocery stores. When you purchase a hypoallergenic dog food, you also have to check the label. It always pays to check the label. You can find a lot of ingredients that may cause allergies to your dog. Hypoallergenic dog food usually contains protein from meat, chicken, fish, and lamb. There are also some types of hypoallergenic dog food brands that solely produce dog food out of vegetables.

Always remember that your dog is very sensitive to the food they eat. Just like human, we also get a lot of discomfort and sicknesses when we get to gobble on food that is not good to our system. Food is very important. We intake it and its nutrients go directly to nourish our body. If we do not give the right food to our dog, it might not take a longer time that your dog will also have health problems. While everything is not yet too late, give them hypoallergenic dog food!

When you choose your food for your dog, you have to remember that there are certain foods that would cause a lot of allergies to your pet. Just like for example, you are not allowed to give shellfish, crab and some seafood to your dog because they can cause skin itchiness.

Dog foods that are hypoallergenic are really good to your dog’s total health. They are made from guaranteed safe source of food for your pup. There is no other thing that can make a pet owner happy than to see his or her pet in the best health condition.

Hypoallergenic Cats: Should You Own One?

Hypoallergenic Cats: Should You Own One?

There are millions of allergy sufferers in the world today, many of whom just happen to be cat lovers. Sadly, most of the percentage of that population has lived their entire lives without having the companionship of a beautiful and loving cat. However, the introduction of hypoallergenic cats may have changed all of that.

A hypoallergenic cat is one that is not as likely to cause an allergic reaction in humans who were previously allergic to cats. Although there is no scientific proof, the Siberian and Russian Blue cat breeds are said to be naturally hypoallergenic. Other cat breeds like the Sphynx, LaPerm, Cornish Rex, and Devon Rex don’t have some of the normal layers of cat fur possessed by more common breeds. These breeds can sometimes be tolerated by people with only mild allergies to cats. However, the most common allergy is to the cat’s saliva rather than the fur, so for those people, even a hairless cat breed may not be the answer.

]]>

The Allerca Company announced in 2006 that they have been successful in breeding a line of hypoallergenic cats. Although there have been no studies reviewed on this claim, many people are already placing orders for hypoallergenic kittens. Felix Pets is another company who claims to be in the process of developing a hypoallergenic cat breed.

Obviously, for the true cat lover, news like this could be the answer to a dream for them if they have not been able to have a pet cat due to allergies. It offers them the chance to actually own and cuddle that long elusive cat. This is definitely the biggest advantage of owning a hypoallergenic cat. You would finally have your very own kitty, and not have to worry about it kicking up any of your allergy symptoms.

However, the cat breeds that are believed to be hypoallergenic are also quite an expensive investment. They run from 0 on the low end to 00 on the high end for one of these special kittens. You would need to make very sure that you can afford the cost of buying and caring for a kitten like this.

Another thing to consider is making completely sure that you are going to respond well to the hypoallergenic kitten of your choice. It would be not only quite a waste of money, but heartbreaking as well, to buy your precious kitten only to find out afterward that your allergies are going to be irritated by it. Your doctor may be able to help you in testing this before you get too excited. If everything works out your way, then owning a hypoallergenic cat could be the answer for you.
