Where can I find a Siberian cat!?

Question by MiniSuperWoman: Where can I find a Siberian cat!?
OK, my dad is allergic to cats so we wanted to get a Siberian cat because there hypoallergenic. Does anyone know where to get a peer bred Siberian cat from a shelter in Chicago? I want to get one from a shelter not a breeder. Thanks!

Answer by Spike & Co.
Most unlikely that you will find one at a shelter during the Christmas season. You can put your name on a list at the shelter and if one comes in, perhaps they will call you.

Here’s a list of breeders, just in case you are interested or want to see some photos:

Having waited for days, desperate, desolate dogs stare hopelessly from within the caged walls of dog pounds. Long abandoned by anyone who had once promised they cared about them, tonight these forlorn dogs are scheduled to die. Yet for the lucky ones, be they in Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Bakersfield, northern California, even Arizona or Nevada, late afternoon may return the light of hope back into these canine eyes when the aged Husky Camp bus grumbles into the parking lot to embrace them into rescue. Every week, and multiple days each week, the enormous but tired and wheezing, 46 year old bus trundles the hundred plus miles from the high desert to gather dogs from the shelters or bundle them off to waiting families at adoption events. These are hard miles for the retired, feeble, school bus lumbering over long, steep mountain inclines and fighting the over-congested freeways clogged with stop and go traffic that demand endless gear grinding, alternated with the complaining groans of the metal-to-metal brakes. The trips are a labor of love for the homeless animals in the effort to find them a place to call home. The big bus has served well over its decades in dog rescue. All but the driver’s chair and one passenger seat have been removed. Rather than rows of school bus seating are rows of dog crates, many of them double-deckers, securely
