No cat is completely hypoallergenic because the allergy is not caused by the fur but by the dandruff and feline saliva. Unless of course you want a stuffed cat. But you can still have a cat if wash the cat. Start when they are kittens and bathe them witha mild soap every week. Here is an interesting site about cats and allergies. Also you may able to take a medicine to counteract the allergic reaction. I would discuss this with your doctor before purchasing a feline and then needing to find it a new home.

No cat is ‘hypoallergenic’, that is a myth. The main allergen that cats produce is in their saliva. And all cats, even ones without fur, lick themselves to groom.

We are adopting either a Shihpoo or Pekeapoo. Our child has allergies but is not allergic to poodles a Pomeranian of his Grandma’s he was petting literally put him in the hospital. I was reading about the different breeds. Shih Tzus, and poodles are usually low/no shed, but the Pekineses is a shedder. But a Pekeapoo is listed as hypoallergenic. What are your experiences with these two hybrid breeds and allergies? We like the Pekeapoo more than the Shihpoo but either will do fine. We’d like to surprise him and not traumatize him with more breathing treatments so research has to be done. The lady at the shelter swears the Pekeapoo shouldn’t affect him.
We are adamant on adopting and do not want a purebred poodle, bichon, etc… Many websites claim they are good for people with allergies I was seeking real life experience not opinion.
You people are trolls. Yes he wants a dog. We had the pleasure of a poodle and relative staying with us. He loved the Poodle and played with it 24/7 without ONE issue. But he is very allergic to Pomchi’s/Pomeranians severely. We have been trying to find him a puppy and he can’t go to the shelter there are Pomeranians there and perhaps a slew of other cats/dogs he’d be severely allergic to. I do not like Poodles nor does my spouse. They are over-priced and look goofy. We wanted something that actually looks appealing to us too since it’ll be in our lives for 15 some years.

Why not just go for a poodle if you are unsure about the other mutts? If a pekinese sheds and your son is allergic to the shedding then, to me it doesnt matter what the mixes are I wouldnt get a pekenese mix. The lady at the shelter is now an Dr is she??? how does she know it wont affect him? You’d be better off letting him see the dog on its own at the shelter (away from the otehr dogs) and see if it affects him. If it does then its a no.

I’m allergic to dogs, but I absolutely positively LOVE dogs. I want a small dog that stays small. That doesn’t grow up to medium size, like I want one that’s pretty small and in between small and medium, but the smaller, the better. Anyways, does anyone know any breeds that are hypoallergenic and small?

None. All dogs have dander and saliva( both are allergens). All the double coated breeds shed, Single coated dogs like the poodle still loose coat just like we loose hair. Even the hairless Chinese crested have some coat on the feet, tail and head. They also have dander and saliva.

Moving a Siberian Tiger
Tamair is a male Siberian Tiger at a local big cat sanctuary, the “Wildlife Heritage Foundation” – www.whf.org.uk I had the opportunity a few weeks ago in October 2007 to help move Tamair to his new enclosure, to make way for the new Siberian Tiger Makari, who will be part of a breeding program with the female Amur Tiger, Ronja. Video contents The first part sees volunteers and WHF & Paradise Park staff help carry in and secure a 180KGs (398lbs, 28 stone 6lbs) enforced container into Tamair’s enclosure, while Tamair is currently shut in his sleeping quarters. Tempting Tamair: The idea was to tempt Tamair into the container of his own will with some meat and the familiar face of a WHF handler. However, Tamair can be uncooperative at the best of times, and that day was no exception! The Vet: In the likely event of Tamair not wanting to play ball, a vet was on hand to tranquilise and revive Tamair and he would have to be moved the hard way. Heavy Lump: WHF & Paradise Park handlers gradually move a sedated Tamair out of his sleeping quarters and into the crate, ready for his move to his new enclosure. With the help of myself and several volunteers, as well as a van from Paradise Park, we were able to move the heavy lump! Weight Expectations: Just before going into Tamair’s new enclosure, we weighed Tamair in his crate. With the crate we had a weight of 389KGs (855lbs, 61 stone 1lb).
