Try looking up a Portugese Water dog. Obama’s daughters have one and they’re allergic. They make great pets!!

Greyhound or standard Poodle. Some breeds mixed with Poodles also do well for allergy suffers.
The only dogs that are larger that are on the low shed list are poodles, portuguese water dogs, and giant schnauzers.
Your dad needs to find out if he is allergic to dander or saliva. There is a difference.
Collies are high shed, as are dogs like it would the big double coats.
Standard poodle, Portuguese water dog, water spaniel.
I’d go with the poodle for color variety and trainability.
“One would think that this furry giant is a great shedder and is hell for those who suffer from allergies and asthma. What a misconception, since this furry mastiff is one of the few hypoallergenic dog breeds! It’s thick, double coat only sheds once a year during a 4 week period either in spring or in summer. Weird isn’t it? So if you suffer from allergies and love big dogs, then the Tibetan Mastiff is sure to make you happy!”-D Dog Fan
